Laurie Aldridge (ex ANSTO) is a spectroscopist and physical chemist with an international reputation on research to improve durability of cement and concrete.  As a research scientist for more than 30 years, he has made substantial contributions in theoretical chemistry, catalysis and spectroscopy of clay minerals and mineral hydrates in cements.  As an adjunct with Deakin University, he will continue to assist ACID in his longstanding collaboration with Professor Collins and Dr Gates on predicting the service life of concrete infrastructure.
